Welcome to Phinneywood!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 | Posted in News | No Comments »

We received a nice posting on the Phinneywood blog, A news blog for Seattle’s Phinney Ridge and Greenwood neighborhoods

Phinneywood is a daily news blog that’s designed to be a community resource — a place where you can learn about the changes in your neighborhood and discuss the issues that are important in Phinney and Greenwood.

PhinneyWood was created by the folks behind MyBallard.com, and it launched in July 2008. The site is authored by Dale and Doree, experienced journalists who live in Phinney Ridge, just a few streets away from Greenwood.

Thanks for the post. We’re excited to be part of this neighborhood!

Filming at the Port of Tacoma

Sunday, October 26th, 2008 | Posted in Articles | No Comments »

We went to the Port of Tacoma on a beautiful Saturday morning to film with Kalmar Industries. I was shooting 1080p at 25fps and got to take the Panasonic HPX500 on a man-lift and crane. While I was up there, I thought back to my days of working with one of the DPs from the TV show Lost. His advice to me: “Get height in your shots. It makes all the difference.”

Luckily, Belal Hibri was the PA on this shoot and snapped some photos.

BizJam 2008 Session:

OMG! U So Need To Leverage Social Media

Eric Weaver

Eric Weaver has a front-row seat in how the online world is transforming marketing. Fasten your seat belts as he takes us on an overview of the massive sea change in the way consumers seek out, study, and share offerings of value. Along the way, he’ll show us new tools for engaging with your customers, and help you understand how they think. He’ll also explain why old-skool marketing tactics - interrupt, shout, beg and stalk - no longer work. He’ll also explain why word of mouth is an outcome, not a strategy or a tactic. What your customers are talking about, and how to talk with them, not at them. He’ll explain the six tenants of social marketing, and give you a social marketing toolkit. He’ll also explain why brand blogging allows you to not only bypass the media and go straight to your customers, but also allows you to listen to them and get new product ideas, and discover strengths or weakness in your business’s offerings.

If you haven’t heard of Dr. Leroy Hood, then you’re missing out on someone that made Wired Magazine’s exclusive “2008 Smart List: 15 People the Next President Should Listen To.”

being MEdia was lucky enough to spend the last several months talking to Lee’s colleagues, family and friends about his amazing work. This was put together into an 11 minute video tribute to Dr. Lee Hood.
